as many as 1500 pastors across the country would take part today. dan gilgoff joins us from washington to tell us more about what's happening here. dan, who is behind this, and what causes a candidate to be defined as "unbiblical" say some of the pastors? >> there's a conservative evangelical group called alliance defending freedom that organized the event today. what's really kind of incredible about it is this the third year they are challenging pastors to speak out for or against political candidates. what started a few dozen churches participated. this year today there were 1400 pastors who say they are participating. of course, the other big thing about this year that's different is there's a presidential election going on. so that the consequences of a mass number of preachers making political endorsements are, of course, a lot more dramatic because the white house is hanging in the balance. >> is this considered, you know, a case of religious principle or a political statement being made? >> i think it depends where you sit, because for the pastors who are participating in today

in henderson, nevada, gearing up for wednesday's debate. our white house correspondent dan lothian is over at the white house. he getting new information. what's the latest on his xaeb preparation, dan? >> reporter: campaign official telling me that the president began those practices last might after arriving in defense nevada and continued these rehearsals this morning in nevada as well. taking only a break this afternoon. one of the things that they are really working on is trying to get the president to be more concise and in his answers. you know, sometime it is president can be long winded and the campaign has admitted this and it is not the most effective way to deliver your message. so they are trying to get the president to answer these questions with very few words. he has a small team of adviser around him including david axelrod, former white house communications director anita dunn. and also brian, one of the president's economic adviser. they are not talking about some of the specifics, what's going on behind the scenes. one thing they are saying publicly is they are trying t

us what you are looking for as the debate season commences. the baltimore sun has this piece -- dan barry, connecticut, keith on our republican line. caller: i will not be watching the debate tomorrow night. i have seen enough of the show that they put on and it's not real. the questions are staged and the moderators are chosen by the candidates. the questions are preselected. only certain people [no audio] they will disagree on a couple things to make some highlights in tomorrow's news. other than that, you have two of the same guys on either side of the stage in a choreographed event. there's lots of other strings that are choreographed on tv that would be a lot more entertaining than this staged event for a candidate that the gop forced down everybody's throats. nobody wanted him last time or this time, but they will continue to beat the drum and say this is there a guy. but i think you will see that after tomorrow, obama's numbers will probably get even stronger. it's a shame they did this to us. if you had a strong candidates like ron paul, obama would not be able to stand on t
